the people who "do" the wiki are normal users that apply to join the wiki.

If that's true, why can't I join. I click the join link, and it simply redirects me to a page cannot be found kind of page.

Both major browsers, FF and IE. This undermines your idea of correctness.

A. Go to the "usergroups" section on your User Control Panel, and apply to join the Wiki-editing group
B. Now go onto the wiki and go onto Sign In/Register
C. Now register your wiki account...

I might not be correct here, as I didn't remember the EXACT steps it took to join the wiki.
