Deleting pages

Post by Combuster »

I just stumbled upon some copyright infringement issues on the wiki, and wanted to delete the pages in question. However, with the site upgrades the delete button has vanished.

For me and all other editors, would be the current deletion procedure?

Are any of us sysops on the wiki? This seems to be the default in mediawiki, so maybe chase forgot to turn it off?

What are the pages, by the way?

Templates from wikipedia. If you look in recent changes you can find them (They got blanked for now)

I am intending to be cleaning up/merging the multiple x86 boot sequence articles -- which will requre deleting several of them. I just looked around to see if I could see the delete button on any of my articles ... I can't, and honestly I don't even quite remember exactly where it was. So I guess I'm not a wiki sysop either. :bigcry:

[EDIT]Um, this post didn't make much sense after I deleted the spam post, so I thought I'd mention that the spam post was deleted (and the spammer banned)... - Brendan[/EDIT]

Do you see the little icon in the upper right hand corner of the post, next to the one labeled quote? No no, your right, not your left. Next to the one labeled quote. Yes, the triangular one with an exclamation mark in it. There, click that icon, and it brings up a little "report this post" screen. Now you can flag it as spam yourself instead of making these useless little posts all the time.

...or if you're using this sites more aesthetically pleasing theme, the little "Report Post" icon will appear in the lower right corner. ;)

The page content is removed and the page is cleared to not exist anywhere else (ie, links go red, for example).

The deleted page still exists in the revision history, so it can be rolled back if needed.

or if he was referring to the 'report post' button:

it flags the post for review on the mod control panel so we can quickly handle any posts that users believe a mod should check for spam/rule breaking/wrong forum/etc
