Are movies allowed too? I recommend Revolution O.S. by J. T. S. Moore and released in 2001.

I got a copy from my university library, everything explained clearly, give reference to resources(web urls, research papers etc..) , give credits to the original researchers who enriched the OS-dev.

By the way, could propose books in the local language not only in english.
Perhaps in italian, french, spanish languages and so on...

I doubt whether there are any original works in a language other than English. No doubt there are translations though, but that seems to add little value (as most here speak English).

Given that there are many VGA-related (and to some lesser extent, accelleration) questions around, Michael Abrash - Graphics Programming Black Book. Its a bit old, but a good read nevertheless, and holds a lot of information not just limited to the VGA.

I think it says somewhere on this forum that it is dedicated to English speakers only.

Besides, books in other languages would have a lot of their original meaning lost in translation, so I think it's better to just not flunk your English classes than to read something that's not in English.
How do you even say things like "Kernel", "Interrupt request routine" or "Protected mode" in Romanian? I'm Romanian and every time I think about translating something it comes out sounding like something that might sound as an insult if I said it to someone I don't know.

IBM PC/XT Technical Reference.

Hard to find, but it is 10000% worth it. It covers just about ALL of the BIOS interrupt routines + source code, as well as just about everything you need to know about the A20, Video memory, RS-232, Printing, FPU, Harddrives, and of course floppy drives.

No link; I told you it was hard to find.

With a bit of googling, there appears to be a PDF version that seems to be floating around the net. I'm not sure of its legality, however.

Hmm, I would definitely not recommend "Assembly Language Step-by-Step".

The book has 613 pages. After reading the first 400, I had barely seen any
Assembly code or theory. In my opinion, the title is misleading and would
more accurately be called "Editors, system administration, number systems
and a bit of Assembly".

I recommend "http://www.drpaulcarter.com/pcasm/", which is really good.

On the other side I've got to see who owns a XT these days

Anyways I recommend the intel manuals, but I use AThelp at most. It's in Czech, so the English alternatives are the old EXE "e-books" HelpPC and Techhelp (google is your friend).
