VMware Server 1.0 released and it's FREE!
VMware, one of the most popular commercial virtual machines, has been released for free today - http://www.vmware.com/products/server/. Virtual machines are great tools for developing operating system since it speeds up development if you only have one computer and you don't have to worry about damaging you real computer and filesystems. Always test on real hardware before releasing an OS though. Also of note is Microsoft releasing their VirtualPC product for free - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx
Man I hate how they have you type your address and everything
especially considering I don't know my address and if they called my house then my parents might think I'm a hacker or somehting(lol)
but yea this is awesome, I wonder why their making it free?
only thing I can see free would be microsofts vpc because then people might buy more copies of windows of the vpc but vmware I have no idea
edit:
dang that sux
145mb and I'm on dialup

microsoft is making VPC free, because it is going to be built into vista -- then everyone will have it -- and microsoft does officially support linux now (it would always work, but formerly they would not help you install it)
both MS and VMWare have had free versions for a while now (Virtual Server and VMWare Player respectively), but VMWare server is free now -- that will make it much easier to set up images
