bochs not running properly

Post by redDot »

hello friends,
i am trying to deploy my OS kernel in bochs on windows vista platform. I have a virtual floppy drive (VFD), and have an image file for the OS. The image file runs fine on VMWare, but as i want to get debugging info for the kernel, i am switching to bochs.
my bochsrc.txt file is :
[code]# configuration file generated by Bochs
floppya: 1_44="1.44", status=inserted
# no floppyb
ata0: enabled=1, ioaddr1=0x1f0, ioaddr2=0x3f0, irq=14

keyboard_mapping: enabled=0, map=
keyboard_type: mf
user_shortcut: keys=none

I get the following log file when i try to simulate the os:

1: Will you please enable BBcode
2: RTFM - you'll want an additional argument for the floppy line

hey Its working !!!
i had to save the floppy image with the filename 1.44 in the same folder my bochsrc.txt was, and then its all running fine.
can i get realtime debugging info in bochs, like the value of the various registers while my os is running.
i have to look at the bochlog file, and it shows the info of the CPU registers only after i power off the OS.

You need the bochs version with the debugger compiled in. It is called bochsdbg.exe on windows iirc. After starting you will then see the debugger commandline. Read the bochs manual on how to use it.
