A guide on what not to do when you develop an OS...

I recently aquired for a small fee a Microsoft Optical Wireless mouse.
I believe i saw them in the shops over here in the UK for something ridiculas like £40.

I went to install my new mouse with Ms WinXP. Booted up, worked great, until i used the keyboard. It locked up the keyboard and mouse but Windows itself hadn't crashed, the cursor on my password input box was still blinking.

I tried a number of things to remedy the problem including formatting my hdd and reinstalling XP to see if it solved it but no.

I then gave up, only to decide no, i would try the mouse on another machine in one last attempt.
Whats funny is the mouse did work on my other machine, straight away too, but my other machine runs linux.

The moral of the story, don't develop an OS that wont support your own companies mice and have the customer resort to use it on a rival product.

Moose.
