Google is your friend (or in this case, wikipedia)
Troll (Internet)
Don't feed the troll
and btw, you just fed it

Regarding "troll in the dungeons", its simply a pun (Edit: located first occurrence - courtsey of Crazed123, http://www.osdev.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... 2All#89929 )
"Certainly avoid yourself. He is a newbie and might not realize it. You'll hate his code deeply a few years down the road." - Sortie

Can we actually work to make "troll in the dungeons" a new meme?

Yes. And it works brilliantly for pointing out trolls.

i dont see any problem with people referencing their religion, as long as they dont try to convert me or overdo it.

Aside from all that i never realised how detailed the DMA page of the wiki was. :D

If it seems like I'm getting more annoyed as this message continues, then your perception is correct. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Christian however I hope my evaluation is as unbiased as possible. After all, everybody is biased whether they admit it or not. I voted no opinion because the poll doesn't really make sense.

I fail to see how the word genesis is a religious word. I'm pretty sure the word is actually Greek and is derived from the word genus (the one used in biology). If it being the title of the first book in the Bible makes it religious, then I feel bad for anybody around here who's named John, Samuel, Daniel, Ruth, or James.

Having said that, the word invoked an emotional response which begs the question of whether or not a better word could be chosen. This goes to show that sometimes using catchy or more "artistic" words are kind of inappropriate in technical documents.

I would probably consider the title inappropriate not because of it's "religious" connotations but because it's a word not oft found in technical descriptions which can give rise to confusion causing the person to focus too much on the word and not it's meaning which is merely to title a section.

To light a flame under you all, maybe wiki content would be bettered by spending time on submitting technical pointers instead of trying to make a wiki more religiously neutral. Religion is a part of humanity and our history and is deeply integrated in society. When was the last time an Atheist said, "Oh my God"?

Don't resurrect 4-month old flame wars.
Top three reasons why my OS project died:
  1. Too much overtime at work
  2. Got married
  3. My brain got stuck in an infinite loop while trying to design the memory manager
Don't let this happen to you!

Just because a flame has died down a bit doesn't mean you should throw gasoline on it. ;)

A knife can still be purchased, but it doesn't make killing someone with it any more legal.

I once hosted a web-based proxy on a website, and was suspended from high school (over 2 years ago now) since people were able to use that proxy to access inappropriate page's blocked by the school's filter.

a) I did not create the proxy, I just mirrored it.
b) I did not promote people to use the proxy to access inappropriate pages.

But the school was all like "OMGZ OUR NETWORK HAS BEEN HAXED MAJOR SECURITY BREACH!!!!!!!1111".

I felt unfairly treated because if a hardware retailer sold a hammer and a customer purchased that hammer and used it to kill someone, the hardware retailer would not be the once going to jail to serve the time. The hardware retailer merely resold the tool with no intention for it to be used in that way.

ok, just to end this topic.

religion is personal, if you feel offended by someone else because of what he/she said send a PM and explain nicely why. If that still does not work consider a TV. If there's nothing on you like, turn it off.
