I guess I'm the old man here :p I'm 38.

And I never went to college. Oops. Guess this guy isn't going to find too many Ph.D.'s on this board. :-)

I'm with the rest of you guys on this one 24 here but what good is a PhD if you don't have a clue about whats going on anyways. Atleast some of us here have gained some significant advancements in their os development.

My project is pretty much a two man team where I do all the main development and the other half works on the GUI. And we have already integrated an IP stack into our system as well as all the other systems needed to be in place to get this far.

Hi-all--

OK, OK--don't shoot the messenger!! :)

Just thought this may be a good place to start in looking for OS Developer types.  I have the following additional position available:

PhD not necessary, but would be an big plus:  again resumes or credentials to [email protected]

GUI Developer: to help company build their own IDE, which front-ends a very a complex micro-processor, they are retargeting NetBeans for C .  So-- must have GUI dev, Java and NetBeans .  Great pay, great company, promising equity.

I don't know about other people here, but I'd want more information before I'd go signing up for anything.

Firstly, what is it? You say you're looking for OS developers, then you're talking about writing an IDE, then about NetBeans for C and about Java... Well, what is it? These are very different areas of software development. You're being strangely vague about this position, which makes me wonder if you're really a recruiter.

Secondly, where is it? Is the job over the internet? If not, then you should be specifying that the person should be willing to relocate somewhere. What company is it anyways?

I did some looking around on your site, and found this posting: http://iconstaff.com/opportunities/alldetail.asp?id=99

If that's the position you're talking about, you're definately in the wrong place. Not that people here wouldn't have experience in Java and Swing (I happen to have a fair bit in both, for example), but that's not the purpose of this board. This board is about developing operating systems.

Finally, I noticed in that posting the use of the acronym OSS. Are you sure you're not confusing acronyms here. OSS = Open-source software (and maybe other meanings as well, OS = Operating system.
